Move to a safe location

Pull onto a flat, well-lit shoulder away from traffic. Avoid changing a tire on a curve or narrow road if possible.

Check your spare and tools

  • Confirm the spare is inflated.
  • Locate the jack, lug wrench, and wheel lock key.
  • Set the parking brake before any work begins.

Know when to call a professional

If traffic is heavy, weather is bad, or you are unsure about the spare, it is safer to call ARS for a quick tire change.

After the tire change

Drive to a tire shop soon for a proper repair or replacement. Temporary spares are not designed for long distances.
